CIRS-Safe Tiny Home Brisbane
In this case study, I show you through my latest CIRS-safe tiny home project in Brisbane. While I didn’t build the home, I worked closely with the owner to choose low-tox materials and implement affordable mould prevention strategies.

The entire home is now under full containment with two reverse-cycle air conditioners, dehumidifiers running at 35–42% humidity, and automatic extraction fans to keep air fresh and dry. All incoming air is filtered through a true 99.999% HEPA filter, and the system runs under negative pressure to keep contaminants out.

We added an outdoor shower, laundry, and kitchen to reduce indoor moisture — a big win for anyone managing CIRS or chronic illness. There’s also a Uhoo monitor inside so the owner can track air quality in real time.

Best of all, we did it all on a tight budget. With the right maintenance, this home is now a safe, long-term living solution.

CIRS-Safe Glass House Darwin
This 6x6 glass wellbeing system was custom-built in Darwin for someone living with CIRS.

The structure features double-glazed glass walls on three sides, along with an outdoor bath, shower, laundry, and kitchen—designed to minimize indoor moisture and contaminants.

The system integrates advanced technology to maintain optimal indoor air quality. It includes a custom 99.999% HEPA filter, rapid exhaust ventilation, desiccant and refrigerant dehumidifiers, and a COâ‚‚ monitor that automatically controls ventilation fans. Additionally, a powerful ionisation system provides continuous air disinfection, and all water is filtered through a custom filtration system.

Environmental conditions are continuously monitored using a Yoowhoo system, providing real-time data on humidity, temperature, COâ‚‚, particulates, and formaldehyde. Despite the hot climate, the space remains cool and dry—typically around 28°C with 30% humidity—ensuring a comfortable and safe living environment.

Inovair E8 Air Purifier Testing
In this case study, we tested the Inovair E8 air purifier using a Tritech Particle Counter to assess its performance. The results were exceptional: the Inovair E8 consistently delivered air with zero particulate.

Based on these results, I can confidently conclude that the Inovair E8 is 100% effective. It is a true HEPA-filtered air purifier, and I now consider it my #1 air purification recommendation for those seeking the highest level of air quality and safety.

Air Polishing
A CIRS client was concerned about contamination in their bus. After a full inspection with clear test results, we used two high-powered air scrubbers to ensure complete air purification. These scrubbers, equipped with true HEPA filters, ran non-stop for 5 days, and we used a brand-new leaf blower to agitate settled particles for optimal removal.

📊 Results: We reduced over 600,000 particulates to the low 1,000s, achieving a dramatic improvement in air quality.
Air scrubbing (or air polishing) is a powerful tool to improve indoor air quality, even without visible water damage. Consider it for your own maintenance strategy.

Case Study:
Miele C2 Vacuum
Many vacuums claim to have HEPA filtration but fail to meet the 99.97% particulate capture required for true HEPA certification. To verify these claims, I put the Miele C2 Vacuum to the test.
Miele states that their vacuums, along with the additional HEPA filtration, achieve 99.97% filtration, with their sealed vacuum bags filtering 99.99% of particulates.

Results: Zero detectable particles were emitted from the vacuum exhaust. The Miele C2 earned the Mould Avoidance Consultancy tick of approval for genuine filtration performance and is suitable for individuals with CIRS, environmental sensitivities, allergies or who are immunocompromised.
